Marti Nyman

At Best Buy, he recognized the need for a more effective way to address the continued competitive pressures of the consumer retail market and launched the industry’s largest and most significant venture capital practice. His vision and plan of establishing strong, collaborative relationships with leading venture capital firms and their portfolio companies generated successful new products and services, enhanced the company’s competitive advantage and generated over $30 million in new economic value.

During his tenure at ADC, his vision of building a robust optical component business led to $980 million in M&A activity and accelerated the company’s position in the market.  Responsible for driving new growth in the rapidly expanding Asian telecom market, he was instrumental in leading the company’s launch of a wholly-owned, state of the art production facility in Nanjing, China.

Marti holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Hampshire, with a minor in Materials Science.  He teaches a graduate level course on Corporate Venturing at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management and is on the board of directors at SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices of Education), as well as the advisory board of two startup companies.  Marti has an extensive network of influential relationships across venture capital, investment banking and Fortune 500 companies.
